Teezo Touchdown dropped five videos for ONE song, and I have to talk about it. “Honeymoon Night” is my new fav song, but I’ve also really enjoyed watching him roll this out over the last several weeks. He’s been engaging with fans via Instagram, popping out with new 27B boho knotless braids, a septum piercing, and giving us a whole wedding to follow leading up to today’s official release.
An audition reading, a pre-wedding photo shoot, rehearsal pictures, fittings for the bride and groom, a first-dance rehearsal, and finally the cake topper. All this for one single. How cool?
It started August 18th via Instagram with an audition reading. At that point, we were getting an introduction to “Honeymoon Night,” and now that the release is here, I love being able to look back at where he started. He gave the idea time to build. There was something to follow before we got the finished visuals, and I appreciate that kind of thought going into a release.
And yes, the 27B boho knotless braids deserve a mention. The hair, the outfits, the tour updates—I was paying attention. He’s very Rick James coded, and I’m not mad at all. When he finds his Teena Marie, us millennials might have our own “Fire and Desire” lol. I can already see the vision.
It’s fun watching an artist introduce new music when the presentation gives you something else to be excited about, too.
By October 1st, we were getting the pre-wedding photo shoot with the bride. The matching yellow against that blue backdrop was so cute. The photo collage had them kissing, smiling, holding each other, and playing around with the poses. It reminded me of those couples’ studio pictures where you can tell they were having fun taking them. I loved that he gave us those photos as part of the buildup.
October 2nd brought the wedding rehearsal pictures, and then we moved into the fittings. The bride fitting came October 3rd, followed by the first-dance dress rehearsal for the groom and bride on October 4th. On October 5th, it was time for the groom fitting.
He really had me following the wedding preparations day by day 😭. I liked having another piece to look forward to, especially because everything belonged to the same idea. The photos introduced the couple, the fittings showed them getting ready, and the dance rehearsal gave us another moment between them. By then, I wanted to see how he was going to pull it all together.
On October 6th, he added a few jokes in the preview while seemingly soft launching a tour. The comedy was attached to that preview, so don’t take that as comedy being part of the tour. It was another little moment of personality before the release, and it fit with how playful this whole buildup had been.
Then today, October 7th, we got the cake topper.
Teezo and the bride standing on top of the wedding cake? I love it. The white cake, the red flowers, her bouquet, and the two of them dressed for the occasion—it’s such a good image to arrive at after watching the preparations. We had seen them getting ready, and now here they were as the actual cake topper.
Today also brought all five visual pieces, with the previews leading us into their release. Five videos for my new fav song. I’m very much giving Teezo his flowers.
What I appreciate is that he gave us time to get familiar with the idea. Each update added something, and by release day, I could recognize the pieces I’d been following. That makes seeing everything come together more enjoyable. I like being able to go back to an earlier post and think, okay, now I see where you were going with this.
His caption today made me appreciate the presentation even more. He talked about introducing himself without assuming people already know who he is or what he has going on. He also expressed how thankful he is to create and share his work, and described this next chapter as being about trust, communication, and his relationship with us.
That stood out to me. There’s so much care in how he’s introducing this song, and the wedding theme gives those thoughts about relationships a place in the visuals, too. Following the rollout felt like being included in the preparations. I was already looking forward to the release, and his caption gave me another reason to appreciate what he put into it.
“Honeymoon Night” is my new fav song, and I love that Teezo gave it this much attention. From the August 18th audition to today’s cake topper and five videos, this has been such a fun rollout to follow. 👌🏽
