A Long-Standing Fashion Love Affair

Desigual × Monsieur Christian Lacroix

I’ve been obsessed with Desigual because there’s always something about their pieces that feels a little different. The prints, textures, colors, the random details you don’t notice until you really look at something. I love clothes like that. I don’t want everything in my closet to look like something I’ve already seen 15 people wearing.

And honestly, that makes sense considering Desigual has been on that type of time since the beginning.

Founded in Barcelona in 1984, the brand built itself around being different. Even its original motto, “No es lo mismo” — “It’s not the same,” pretty much says everything.

But what makes me love Desigual even more is its long-standing collaboration with Monsieur Christian Lacroix.

Lacroix has been creating with Desigual since 2011, and I LOVE that this isn’t one of those here-today-gone-tomorrow designer collaborations made around hype. More than a decade later, they’re still creating together.

And honestly, it makes perfect sense.

Desigual has never been afraid of color, print, texture or being a little unconventional, and neither has Lacroix. Their creative languages almost feel made for each other. You get the freedom and eccentricity of Desigual mixed with Lacroix’s romantic, theatrical and incredibly intricate approach to fashion.

At this point, I’m not looking at it as a designer capsule.

I’m looking for the Lacroix pieces.

Because they always have something.

A print you won’t see everywhere else. A strange little detail. An unexpected combination of colors. A silhouette that doesn’t look like everything currently sitting on a rack. They’re pieces you can keep in your closet for years and still have somebody ask where you got them.

That’s what I’m lusting after.

It’s very much if-you-know-you-know chic.

You don’t need DESIGUAL or LACROIX plastered across the front for the piece to have presence.

The design is the identifier.

The Five I’m Lusting Over Right Now

01. Jacquard Cardigan M. C. Lacroix

That black and cream jacquard??? This is exactly the type of piece I would buy and have forever. It’s easy enough to throw on but still doesn’t look like every other cardigan in your closet.

02. Long Hair Coat Lacroix

I meannnn… LOOK AT IT. 😭

The turquoise, blue, red and black together with all that texture?! There’s really not much else I need to say. This is precisely why I’m here.

03. 2-in-1 Dress M. C. Lacroix

Now THIS is chic. I love that it’s quieter than some of the other Lacroix pieces but still has that something. The black and gray floral, the ribbed texture, the shape—it’s simple until you actually look at it.

04. Printed M. C. Lacroix Top

This print is soooo Lacroix to me. Purple, florals, butterflies, birds, paisley—there’s a million things happening and somehow I’m not mad at any of it. 😂

With a good black trouser and the right shoe? Done.

05. Asymmetrical Slip Dress M. C. Lacroix

And this dressssss.

The blues, the sheer fabric, those tiny straps and the asymmetrical hem. This is one of those pieces you put on and really don’t need to do shit else. The dress is the look.

If You Know, You Know

And this is exactly why I keep coming back to Desigual × Lacroix.

Look at those five pieces together. They don’t even look like they came from somebody following a formula. One is wild, one is romantic, one is understated, one is completely covered in print—and somehow they all still make sense.

That’s what I want from fashion.

I don’t need everything to have a recognizable logo. I don’t need to own something just because everybody else suddenly decided it’s the piece to have.

Give me something I haven’t already seen.

Give me the print I have to stare at for a minute. Give me the weird detail. Give me the piece somebody is going to ask me about five years from now.

That’s what makes fashion fun to me.

And with Monsieur Christian Lacroix and Desigual, don’t be too good to check the sale section too. ☺️
