It’s been 20 years since The Game dropped his debut album The Documentary, and it still hits like it did in 2005. Back then, I was reciting “How We Do” word for word and catching the video on MTV Jams every Sunday on the Week. The album felt like a gangster’s diary, raw and real, bringing West Coast rap back into the spotlight.

Tracks like “Dreams” (Kanye’s production is unmatched), “How We Do,” “Like Father, Like Son,” and “Start from Scratch” told stories that stuck with you. The Dre and 50 collabs were solid—the perfect segue that proved how music brings people together, especially with East and West Coast artists coming together as a collective.
